Administration Enhancements
Enhanced Kill-Pill (disabling stolen/lost devices)
With this enhanced feature, administrators can disable stolen and lost devices with a single operation. Devices
will be completely hard reset or the user data completely wiped out and put in an undesirable state. When Live
Connect is enabled and the device is always-on, the Kill Pill action is pushed to the device immediately.
Importing and Exporting Configurations
This feature allows administrators to selectively save, restore, or relocate portions of the OneBridge configuration
tree to another configuration or another server.
OneBridge Sync Server Support for Scripting
This feature will permit OneBridge administrators to design custom scripts to be invoked by individual clients
during a sync session. The Admin interface will allow OneBridge administrators to configure a script at any node
in the configuration tree. The content and the behavior of the scripts are left to the user’s discretion. System,
device, and OneBridge information are exposed as script object properties, or variables. These variable’s values
are derived from runtime information from the user’s client or from the OneBridge Server product and may be
utilized when a script is invoked. It supports any scripting language supported by Windows host scripting engine.
Authentication Control Module (ACM) SDK
Authentication in OneBridge Mobile Groupware and Data Suite Server Editions has now been expanded to allow
third parties and professional services groups to construct authentication modules for OneBridge that provide
support for custom authentication methods in an ad-hoc manner.
For example, a customer might wish to access an LDAP or RADIUS server in a manner not currently supported.
In this case, an engineer can construct a new COM base or .NET DLL that will allow for the extension of the
authentication subsystem into the customers domain without requiring any changes to the OneBridge product.
This effectively opens OneBridge to allow more forms of authentication for OneBridge as well as offering
unparalleled degree of customization both for the customer and as a revenue opportunity for consultation.
Silent Install
The administrator is empowered to force mandatory updates by suppressing user prompts in the install/update
process. This feature is now available for devices that run the Symbian operating system (i.e., Sony Ericsson
P800, P900, P910, and Nokia 9300/9500).
Improved Application Deployment
The file transfer install functionality has been extended to track which files have been installed on a device. This
feature is important for Windows Mobile Pocket PC/Smartphone .cab files and Palm .prc that are automatically
deleted after the application is installed on the device. Previously, the File action would attempt to download these
files again because they no longer existed on the device. File transfer now tracks file install information in a
separate install history log with the file modification time and file version (Palm only). If the modification time or
version is not newer than what had been previously installed on the device, the file is not downloaded again even
though it doesn’t exist on the device.
A new option has been added to the Advanced options dialog to allow the user to clear the install history. A user
would select this option if they had downloaded an application, installed it, deleted it, and then wanted to
download it again.
Note Even though this feature is most relevant to cab and prc files, it works for any type of file as long as the File
action type is Install. If you do not want install tracking, use the File action type of Copy instead.
This improvement is supported for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, and Palm.
